Embark Beach - Will it be the new trade hub?
Currently Kamadan is the biggest trade hub for players to buy and sell items between other players, but is this about to change?
With Embark Beach about to go live, this is most likely to become the new trading hub, and people will start to mitigate and move their power trades to here instead. What do you think, good or bad, and will it take over the role as trade city from Kamadan?

I sincerly hope not, and I expect not also. Kamadan can just as easily stay as the place to trade, and EB can be the place to quest. Its not like people idled time away in Kamadan looking for parties for quests anyway, so I don't think it will draw a huge number of people away from the city.

I'd probably use Embark beach to bypass having to go to Kamadan in the first place.
Need to be somewhere with a mission in Elona? - hit Embark beach, it's quicker to load.

I will certainly do a few trades in Embark Beach during idle times, while looking for missions or other things to do.

I think that "if" one is able to list trades in EB, there's a significant chance it may become the new trading hub.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, though.
I can see where it could potentially draw people who are primarily solo players (such as myself) into joining a PuG... you go to EB to sell something, see a few other people looking to do the same mission you were planning on doing shortly, decide to toss your hat in and see what happens.
By the same token, I think it could become very overwhelming... if a significant portion of the GW population is hanging out in EB and already spamming LFGs, how easily will WTBs/WTSs get lost in the midst of that? Or conversely, how easily with LFGs get lost amidst hundreds of WTBs/WTSs?
I think it is really going to depend on if EB also carries with it a new mechanism by which people find their PuGs, and I'm not real clear on how that's going to be set up. If it is identical to the existing options (party window/trade chat with LFGs), I see EB in general being a lot less enjoyable and potentially even HARDER to find people to party up with, let alone find the item(s) you want to buy/sell.

As long as majority of people use the right channels, and I sincerely hope they do, then it should work. If not interested in trades, filter out trade chat and minimize the Trades in party window, only looking at Mission/Hunting/Quests etc.
In anyway I'm sure that All Chat will be the majorly used by Quests/Missions/Hunting/ZB/ZM etc, while trades stay in Trade Chat. Anyone trying to trade outside the trade chat will get a lot of angry remarks or even /reports, so better just stick to the right channels.

Problem here is, that if it does become the trade hub, it will be the only place where many traders gather.
It would be the same as now, just with beach being the hub instead of kamadan and kamadan will be a near empty (in comparison) place with some traders like LA is now. Potentially LA will go extinct completely...

But the good thing is that Kamadan will once again be a city and not a trade spam hub
Interesting enough, Embark Beach will be most likely in same location as the (presumed) abandoned area for Xunlai Market which was most likely intended to gather traders in one centrally located area away from the cities.

Well, if it becomes a trade hub, we can have american districts for trading and internationals for question, if it really bothers you, there, problem solved. Only problem will be, establishing that int should be questing spot from the start.

I predict that EB will become the new trade hub. There are many reasons for this actually. The only reason why Kamadan is currently the trade hub is because it is easy to reach and it is the newest port town.
Embark beach will probably also get a port, or if not, then it is easy to reach from the GH and from GtoB. Plus it does not have the annoying 4 player per group restriction that Kamadan has (zone into Kamadan with 3 Heroes and try trading...). The other advantage of EB over any other outpost in the whole game apart from GtoB is that you can access it no matter which game you have on your account. If you dont have Nightfall, then you were not able to trade in Kamadan.

Imo Anet will not enable the trade chat in EB.
1-Think what would be Kama+LA+GtoB+KC....nicghtmare
2-There will be enough caos with the LFG/GLF x every mission/area in gw....

Just encourage everyone to stick trades to trade channels and it should all work out well
Then rest can just filter out trades easily if they don't want to see it.

IF it's immediately accessible to Lvl 1 characters from Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall, it should, and I *hope* it becomes the new major hub.
Kamadan being the main trade hub never made sense as it excluded people who don't own Nightfall. I always thought Great Temple of Balthazar made more sense, but it became the hub for PvP only chars / Zaishen related challenges, which is fine.
GW has way too many locations atm- condensing [PvE] player mass is a good idea in general. If people are getting together for farming/challenges/missions, for convenience make it the same place they sell all those items they just got.

Lvl 1 characters from prophecies tend to be stuck in pre, it would be a bad thing if it was accessible for them (item smuggling to pre... again...), but the other characters should have instant access.

It would make little sense for a pre to access Embark Beach anyway.. if they did, they wouldn't be allowed to trade with anyone, no access to vendors, no xunlai, no npcs.. in the end, all they could do is just stand there.. perhaps ask some random things like "Hey, can someone open gate for me in pre? Thanks!"

People will probably go there, and traders go where people go.

Personally, I hope it DOES become the new trade hub and that it's policed enough that pwople will stick to the proper channels. Ideal solution.
Only problem is it could overwhelm the party search interface, which could use a separate trade and LFG section, well policed.
